This morning we went to Ambassade de France à Singapour, French Embassy in Singapore. It is located at Cluny Park Road just opposite Botanic Gardens MRT (Downtown Line), Exit A.
It is our second time to apply for Schengen Visa but first time to apply at French Embassy. We searched its location on how to get there by MRT or bus. We decided to travel by MRT as its more convenient to us.
We have scheduled an appointment at 9:00 AM. We arrived at the Embassy 30 minutes earlier. We queued up outside the building. At exactly 9 o’clock they opened the gate, the guard shouted, “first three, first three“. We presented our appointment letter and IC to the information window staff. The guard asked us to place our bags in the security scanning machine. Then, the staff gave us our security pass.
We got the first time slot, we headed to the Visa office and the friendly consulates greeted us. She accommodated us two when we told her were husband and wife. She immediately checked our documents. We arranged our papers meticulously and by order according to their checklist, see complete requirements here. However, there are some documents we passed that she didn’t need. She gave us unneeded documents. She scanned our Visa photo and said no need to take a picture. We had fingerprint scan. First, a digital scan of the four fingers from your right hand and then the four fingers from the left hand will be taken. Finally, a digital scan of the two thumbs will be taken.
She gave us an information slip to check that all printed details are correct and she gave us a copy.
We paid 60 euros(€) or $92 SGD.
This fee will vary in SGD ($) according to the current rates of exchange and is payable in Singapore dollars, cash Visa or MasterCard. She gave us the receipt to keep.
We were expecting for an interview but there’s no interview. She just asked us how many days are we going to stay in France and validates our itinerary, she uses a highlighter and highlights our itineraries. Our first point of entry is Netherlands but we will be staying more days in France.
It was a quick and pleasant process at French Embassy. She told us we can collect our passports next week Thursday.
