2012 IT Show when we bought Canon EOS 60D with Canon 18-55 Lens Kit. Time goes on, we’re investing more money in DSLR lenses and other accessories, we have Canon 50mm f1.8 and Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens, wireless remote, flash, tripod, backpack, etc. We don’t have regrets, having Canon 60D gives us lot of good memories. We’ve found it very useful as it gives stunning beautiful professional photos. EJ uses it a lot and even uploaded some of his work at his Flickr account. We use it mostly in group family shots, photoshoots and whenever we have an outing events and occasions.
In the Philippines, we have travelled in Bohol (hometown), Cebu and Hundred Islands in Pangasinan. In Asia, we’ve been in Phuket, Thailand and Bintan, Indonesia. EJ has been in China, Bangkok and Bali. Europe trip last October, we went to Spain and France. For all our travels, we always bring our Canon DSLR on trips anywhere but use extra precaution as it attracts as much attention.
It’s worth for us to capture the best image quality we can, but over time, we found the DSLR hassle to carry around and it is heavy and bulky, plus, we need to bring extra batteries, tripod, etc.
Then we started searching for a good camera with less hassle carrying around because we love to enjoy our holiday and travel light.
Today #ITShow2016, we went to Suntec and we bought Olympus OM-D E-M10 Micro Four Thirds system camera. The offer price is $998 with lots of freebies.
The best Free Gift we received is the 45mm f1.8 Lens (Portrait Lens) worth $498. This is limited to first 20 customers per day.
Other freebies are listed below.
- Strontium 32GB SD Card (Class 10)
- Extra Olympus Battery
- Olympus Case Bag
- External Grip ECG-1
- $200 Olympus Lens Voucher
We got a total of 6 good freebies with warranty and product workshop.
Of course, we didn’t just buy because of the freebies, etc. Olympus is our long time crush and a part of our saving goal. EJ took a lot of time to review which one suits best for us and has our desired feature list.
OM-D E-M10 key features
- 16MP Four Thirds CMOS sensor
- Twin control dials
- Built-in flash
- 8 fps continuous shooting
- Tilting 1.04M dot LCD touchscreen
- 1.44m dot LCD viewfinder
- Wi-Fi allowing remote control and file transfer to smartphones
- Focus peaking
- ‘3-axis’ image stabilization
It’s pretty simple: all mirrorless cameras are smaller and lighter.
Kwento, while walking from Suntec to City Hall MRT, I felt so special *kilig* when EJ told me that he actually choose this for me. He told me that I have a lot of love and passion for “quick photography” haha. Hm, yes, I’m constantly clicking with my iPhone and borrowing his Samsung S6. Before I really wanted to just buy point and shoot digital camera but he told me to review other cameras. Buying a camera is a big deal for him, it needs to be perfectly worth the price and I didn’t do the job to select which one, he took responsibility to decide what camera to buy considering both pros and cons that perfectly fit for us.
Now, I’m planning to dive in getting to know more about our cameras, we have Canon DSLR, GoPro and now Olympus, knowing how to use them to its best advantage is a responsibility having them no matter what gear we use to make photography and capture moments more fun and enjoy more awesome results.
When we reached home, we are very excited to unboxed everything. We tested our new camera and the image quality was excellent. We really like our new Olympus camera. Pictures are great and the auto-focus is really fast.
Yay! We’re excited to take on walks, taking advantage of all its capabilities.
Happy shooting!
