Happy Lunar New Year 2015! Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Every Chinese New Year we pay a visit at Chinatown, Singapore. We’re 5 stops of mrt stations away but we’ve been there few times only. Good thing is it’s excite us to witness it’s always beautiful street decorations reflecting the zodiac of the year.
Strolling down Chinatown!
This year, goat-shaped lanterns are displayed in the middle of the road and prosperity decorated gold coins hanging above the streets of Singapore’s Chinatown. Some of the goat’s head are moving but some are don’t.
We loved to walk around in Chinatown! It’s still a nice “must visit place” in Singapore for stroll and to feel the busyness warm and crowded street. Red colors Chinese arts, calligraphy, culture is all around. You will never get bored while walking and exploring the street because you’ll see many interesting shops selling affordable prices great for gifts and souvenirs, street vendors and street food stalls.
Along the way, I cannot help but to admire the architecture of the buildings – the Shophouses. Those were actually homes of the people in the past, and now they are all refurbished into different purposes such as cafes and restaurant, shops, offices etc. You can see Sri Mariamman temple and Buddha Tooth Relic Temple.
We stop by at the Buddhist temple. It was a beautiful and vibrant temple and was very crowded with visitors and people praying. We stay outside because I was wearing shorts (Ops! This is my first time wanting to go inside the temple). A friendly reminder for visitors to dress appropriately.
The last event of the 2015 Goat Lantern display will be on March 19.
