We are staying near Drassanes (L3) station. It’s very accessible near the port area and at the foot of the Ramblas. Our place is at Carrer Ample. Calle or carrer (name for street in Catalan) is a street sounds the same as “kalye” in Tagalog. They have clean streets and you will admire their architecture the first time you saw the place.
Friday morning, and because we don’t have wifi on phone, EJ and I decided to wait each other at 5AM at the street of Carrer Ample in front of the La Mercè Church and the La Mercè Square. It’s still dark outside, the weather is cold and there are few people passing by the streets.
We had breakfast at Pans Company, a European style of fast food chain that have economical prices. We like what we eat there, pair of hot chocolate and bread. They have a wide range of foods available with a great choice and desserts.
Hola, La Rambla!
La Rambla is a famous street in central Barcelona, popular with tourists. A tree-lined pedestrian stretches for 1.2 kilometres connecting Plaça de Catalunya in the centre with the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell.
La Rambla is always crowded and can be more crowded especially during the height of the tourist season.
From here you can see different restaurants & cafes, supermercats, hotels, shops, flowers and souvenir kiosks.
Street statues entertainment is amazing.
Loved the artist and craft booths close to the harbor.
If you enjoy watching people passing by you will definitely like this is place.
The architecture on the buildings you walk by is amazing. The trees line on the street are very beautiful.
Overall, the Ramblas is very touristy, but fun to explore. We both check the place in the morning and at night, always busy until midnight and beyond.
Would we do it again? Yes.
